Rotary Club of Barbil Organises Mega Plantation Week, Plants 184 Saplings Despite Heavy Rain
BARBIL, July 29: The Rotary Club of Barbil launched a Mega Plantation Week on July 28, 2026, with a grand inauguration ceremony held at the Rotary Barbil Eye Hospital in Bhadrasahi. Despite heavy rainfall, the event was successfully completed with enthusiasm and active participation from club members, forest officials, and hospital staff.
The week-long plantation drive was inaugurated by Sri Sanjeev Kumar Rout, OFS, Forest Range Officer, Barbil, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He planted the first sapling, marking the beginning of the initiative. Around 184 fruit-bearing saplings were planted on the hospital premises as part of the inaugural day's activities.
Despite the challenging weather conditions caused by continuous heavy rain, the program proceeded smoothly, reflecting the commitment of the Rotary Club members and the participants toward environmental conservation.
Speaking on the occasion, Sri Sanjeev Kumar Rout appreciated the efforts of the Rotary Club of Barbil and emphasized the importance of tree plantation in maintaining ecological balance. He encouraged the community to actively participate in such initiatives and take responsibility for nurturing the planted saplings.

Technicians from the Rotary Barbil Eye Hospital — Daludal Behra, Tanmay Mahanta, and Balabhadra Mahanta — were also present and contributed to the successful execution of the plantation drive.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest and all participants for their valuable time and contribution. The Rotary Club of Barbil reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability and community welfare through such meaningful initiatives.
